Jennifer’s life path has taken several unexpected turns along the way and when she learned that the typical adult changes careers at least five times, she took that as a personal challenge. After earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communication and Public Relations (after 40), she taught Public Speaking and Public Relations at the college level and that is where she finished her career. Prior to teaching, she had been the personal secretary to a French insurance agent, designed and installed a computer application in the Carter White House, consolidated multi-volume government documents making them searchable in one fell swoop, apprenticed at a dinner theatre, traveled playgrounds in a theatre caravan, and the list goes on. Today, she’s a dedicated community theatre volunteer taking on varied assignments and looking for new challenges.
In recent years, Jennifer has had the opportunity to direct multiple community musical theatre productions in Chestertown (ANNIE, SHREK, ADDAMS FAMILY, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST .. and more). Each production is a gigantic undertaking and the outcome is a magical experience where people from across the community come together because of their shared love of music and theatre.
Music has been the consistent thread. Chorus made high school tolerable. Singing brought her to musical theatre. Choral directors and voice teachers were the influential adults of her youth. Her best friends and favorite memories often drift back to music. Singing with the Chester River Chorale and Chamber Singers is some of the most demanding music she’s ever had the opportunity to sing – and logically, also the most rewarding.
