Steve Cades

Steve Cades sings Bass II in the Chorale, and is a member of the Chester Chamber Singers. He has been singing with Chestertown choruses almost since his arrival in Kent County, forty years ago, when he joined the Washington College Community Chorus. He joined the Chorale in its founding year. He also sang for a number of years with the Mary Green Singers in Philadelphia.

Steve is retired from Washington College, where he was a member of the faculty for more than thirty years, as a member and chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. After his retirement, he had a one year stint as Associate Dean of Assessment and Evaluation. He earned his BA, MA, and PhD at Rutgers University.

Steve and his wife Linda live in Kennedyville, where they raised their sons, Aaron and Michael. Linda, after directing Washington College’s Career Center for 23 years, has retired to active engagement as a political organizer and progressive activist.
