\"\"The Chorale rehearses on Monday nights during the fall semester (September to December) and the spring semester (January to April). Rehearsals are held at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, 905 Gateway Drive<\/a> in Chestertown, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.<\/p>\n

No audition is required, and music is provided. To join, fill out the form below or email info@chesterriverchorale.org<\/a> with any questions. Be a part of a vibrant community of dedicated amateur singers \u2014 join us!<\/p>\n

Dues are $75 per semester (students are free). Please bring cash or a check made out to Chester River Chorale to the first rehearsal to pay your dues.<\/p>\n

The physical and mental health benefits of choral singing are well documented.<\/p>\n

A 2013 Time Magazine article states that \u201cthe benefits of singing regularly seem to be cumulative.\u201d The article further states: \u201cIn one study, singers were found to have lower levels of cortisol, indicating lower stress\u2026our heart rates may sync up during group singing\u2026study after study has found that singing relieves anxiety and contributes to quality of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a 2016 article published on the music industry website cmuse.org<\/a>, the physical benefits of choral singing include increased oxytocin (a hormone which helps to control anxiety and stress) and increased lung capacity. A 2008 study by Harvard and Yale Universities found that choral singing even increases life expectancy!<\/p>\n\n
