Greetings All,
“Nothing is better than home grown.” We hear it a lot this time of year (mid-August, as I write)—fresh veggies from the garden, ripe tomatoes off the vine, sweet corn from the fields—and the best in local musical entertainment, the Chester River Chorale.
This apt analogy is well understood when one considers whom CRC is and what CRC does.
The Chester River Chorale exists for one purpose: to provide opportunity and inspiration for amateur singers to strive for artistic excellence. And through that endeavor the community is presented with spirited, thought provoking concerts that engage, enlighten—but most of all, entertain.
Our members may be found in the town square, on any street corner, or in any business in the community. They are your friends, neighbors, and perhaps family members who come together each week to experience the process and product of making music together.
By this action alone these singers fulfill CRC's lofty mission, but their efforts go well beyond learning and performing music. Chorale volunteers also lend their business leadership skills that keep CRC a constant presence in the life of the community. They create the marketing campaigns; design the programs and posters; develop the CRC website; sell the program ad space; write the grant applications and media articles; secure the venues; design and build the staging; maintain the music library; pay the bills; balance the books; shut off the lights and lock the door!
Our volunteers are the reason that the Chester River Chorale is so successful. Their amazing and steadfast commitment reflects a deep affinity for the community at large—and it's this quality of caring that makes Chestertown and neighboring communities such a special place to live and to visit.
If you are new to the upper Eastern Shore region, or if you haven't experienced the pleasure of hearing the Chester River Chorale, I invite you to check us out. Come to a concert—or better yet, come join your friends and neighbors in making home grown music together!
Cheers!
